The Download Report action is available as a workflow or schedule step. It downloads a list of Identity Panel reports and stashes them in the specified directory.
When configuring Download or Email report steps it is important to consider potential security implications, as these files are downloaded using the credentials of Panel Service. Since the Writers role generally has broad permissions to read data, it is possible for a workflow or schedule based report to include data that would normally not be made available to limited roles. Once a report has been downloaded it can be read by anyone with access to the file.
This also implies that the combination of report authoring with schedule or workflow authoring should be considered sufficient to read any data stored in Identity Panel.
Directory – The first setting that must be configured is the directory to place the reports in. This may be a local directory or a share, but Panel Service must have write access.
Reports – Press the New button to add reports to the step.
Report – After adding a report, you will need to select the report. It will often be necessary to press the dropdown list twice to refresh the list of available reports.
File Type – Available file types are Excel, HTML, Delimited, JSON and XML
Row Limit – It is possible to limit the amount of data returned by the report. A limit of 0 will return all rows.
Report Parameters – Some reports require parameters to be supplied to generate the report. It is advisable before configuring a report to view it in the reports tab to determine what parameters are required, and what the expected names and data types are. Press the "New" button to add a parameter. Rule Engine templating may be used to generate values.
